MOTyVES is co-funded by the European Union (Grant Agreement: 101313325 — MOTYVES — HORIZON-MSCA-2025-COFUND-02) and aims to attract outstanding international researchers in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Law to an inspiring and interdisciplinary research environment in Madrid.

The MOTyVES programme was selected in 2026 under the European Union’s pilot MSCA “Choose Europe for Science” initiative. We have €1.4 million in funding (co-fund) to develop this programme for attracting and supporting international research talents.

Key information
  • Number of positions: 3
  • Contract duration: 3 years (starting in September 2027), renewable for a further 2 years (up to 60 months in total)
  • Career stage: Researchers at the early or intermediate stages of their academic careers
  • Eligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD awarded between 3 and 10 years prior to the last day of 2026, subject to the eligibility conditions and extensions established in the call.
  • International mobility: Applicants must not have resided in, or carried out their main activity in, Spain for more than 12 months during the 36 months preceding the call.
  • Research environment: Successful candidates will be integrated both into MIAS and into a UAM department, with access to an interdisciplinary research environment and a comprehensive training programme.
  • Research support: The contracts include dedicated funding for research and training, as well as a very competitive salary.
  • Career development: The programme offers opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration and may provide a pathway towards a permanent position at UAM, subject to the conditions established in the call.

The programme is particularly aimed at researchers whose work crosses disciplinary boundaries, contributes to addressing complex societal challenges, and engages with European values and interdisciplinary approaches.
