UvA Institute for Advanced Study

The University of Amsterdam has established its Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) to offer outstanding researchers a haven - free from constraints of disciplinary boundaries - where they can work collaboratively on complex scientific and societal challenges. The IAS sparks new interdisciplinary research areas that build on the disciplinary strengths of the University of Amsterdam. The institute is a meeting place for bright and creative minds, where synergy is created and new ideas flourish. The IAS aims to enhance research excellence by involving some of the world’s foremost researchers and leading thinkers. The UvA Institute for Advanced Study was formally inaugurated on 16th September 2016.
