Tampere Institute for Advanced Study

The Tampere Institute for Advanced Study (Tampere IAS) was launched by Tampere University, a community of 21,000 students and over 4,000 staff members, in 2021 to promote excellence in research in all scientific fields represented at the University. The Institute is a successor for the Tampere Institute for Advanced Social Research, which was established in 2002. The Tampere IAS is a university-level research community offering the most competitive researchers the opportunity to focus on their own research and career advancement and to broaden their research horizon. The Institute grants fixed-term Research Fellowships to researchers at different career stages coming from all over the world. Monthly colloquia and a tailor-made mentoring scheme are organized to support the about 40 Research Fellows. The Institute also invites leading international researchers for short visits, collaborates with similar institutes and organizes scientific events. The Tampere IAS’s annual Call for Applications in February-March invites researchers to apply for its Research Fellowships.
