Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS)

Since the establishment of JIAS in 2015, it has become one of the leading institutes of its kind on the African continent with unique programmes that attract interest of scholars, researchers and writers from all over the world. The conferences, symposia and workshops that are regularly convened by and hosted at JIAS draw participation from leading scholars and researchers in their fields. The flagship Writing Fellowship Programme, attracts applications from scholars and writers from all the continents. In 2019, JIAS expanded its fellowship programme by introducing the Research, Visiting and Postdoctoral Fellowships. The year 2020 saw JIAS further expanding with the establishment of the Karl Mittermaier Centre for the Philosophy of Economics.
