Institute for Advanced Studies

The Institute for Advanced Studies (CY AS) was created in 2007 at the University of Cergy-Pontoise (now CY Cergy Paris Université) to stimulate scientific collaborations between its researchers and international scientific community in all major domains. The CY AS runs: 1) a programme of scientific events including workshops, international conferences, thematic semesters and guest lectures delivered by CY AS fellows for the academic community; 2) a programme of visiting professors from all disciplines, hosted up to two months either at a laboratory of CY Cergy Paris Université or at CY AS. Each year, the Institute invites ca. eighty international scientists and hosts forty scientific activities. In 2017, the University was selected by the French government as one of the « Initiatives of Excellence » in higher education and research among a dozen French academic institutions having the potential to become world-class universities. Following this, CY Cergy Paris Université defined an ambitious development strategy to increase its research potential and to foster international academic exchange and visibility. In particular, CY AS launched a new fellows-in-residence programme open to all world-wide researchers in all disciplines.
