Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS)

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies is the international research college of the University of Freiburg. As an integral part of the university, the Institute unites the humanities and social sciences as well as medicine, the natural sciences and engineering FRIAS pursues four main objectives: to promote top-level research by providing new ‘windows for research’ for leading researchers both from Germany and from abroad, to open up new opportunities for interdisciplinary contact and collaboration, to reinforce the university's international networking and visibility, and to promote the advancement of outstanding junior scholars.
