If your institute would like to share news of broad interest, please use the form.
The Ubias network, which gathers institutes of advanced studies from the whole world, presents a pioneering program that will bring together young researchers.

In March 2013 the Israel Institute for Advanced Study at Jerusalem hosted an UBIAS Directors’ Meeting, entitled “University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study, Shaping the Future: Navigating in a Changing World” (March 4-6).
This format was suggested to enable regular exchange between UBIAS institutes on a director’s level. The first conference of this kind took place at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), Germany, in 2010 (as founding conference of the UBIAS network).
The Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies (PWIAS) at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, is organizing an interdisciplinary UBIAS Conference on “Scientific and Academic Knowledge” from September 17-19, 2013 at Vancouver, Canada.
This format was suggested as a valuable instrument for integrating the network and engaging the institutes and their fellows in fruitful scientific dialogue.

Papers for this conference could include the generation of new kinds of knowledge, its translation across disciplines, its dissemination to broader communities, and other topics that engage scholars from institutes for advanced study in cross-cultural, cross-institutional, cross-disciplinary substantive discussions.
The papers will be published in a Peter Wall Institute working papers series. The Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies will host the meeting venues and meals, public events, and accommodation of all the speakers and steering committee members. Travel will be covered by each Institute for their scholars. A number of Institutes will organize specific panels for the conference.
Deadline for paper proposals: November 30, 2012.
